Welcome to Discovery Learning Center !

Established to provide quality English language education and meaningful cross-cultural learning experiences, Discovery Learning Center offers a welcoming and multicultural learning environment where students from around the world can share their backgrounds and perspectives while developing their English proficiency. Discovery Learning Center provides an English as a Second Language Program designed to support students’ language goals through high-quality instruction and student-centered learning.

LOCATION

Our learning center is conveniently located in Manhattan with easy access to public transportation throughout New York City. It is accessible by several subway lines, including the 1, 2, C, N, R, and W trains, as well as multiple bus routes, making it convenient for students traveling from different areas of the city and surrounding regions.

Located in Chelsea, our learning center is surrounded by a diverse and internationally recognized community. The neighborhood offers a variety of cultural, educational, and everyday amenities that support students’ language learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom. Students have opportunities to engage with English in real-world settings while exploring one of New York City’s most active and culturally diverse areas. The location also provides convenient access to museums, libraries, public spaces, and other educational resources that complement classroom learning.

Discovery Learning Center is accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA) for the period April 2022 through April 2032 and agrees to uphold the CEA Standards for English Language Programs and Institutions. CEA is recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a nationally recognized accrediting agency for English language programs and institutions in the U.S. For further information about this accreditation, please contact CEA, 1001 N. Complaints Reporting:

Accredited programs and institutions are expected to continue to meet the CEA Standards during the term of accreditation. A student, faculty or staff member, as well as others outside the program or institution who may have knowledge of an alleged failure by an accredited program or institution to maintain the standards may file a complaint with CEA. Such a complaint must be filed in writing with the name, address and telephone number of the complainant on a separate page, and shall identify the specific standard(s) allegedly violated as well as a description of how the program or institution has failed to comply with it. Complaints may be filed at any time.

Discovery Learning Center (DLC) serves a diverse, foreign-born population for whom English is a second language. This institution strives to realize two primary goals:

Our staff strives to provide students with helpful guidance and information related to studying in the United States. If you have any questions, concerns, or need assistance, please feel free to speak with a staff member. Teaching Faculty

Our goal is to provide effective, student-centered English language instruction. Teachers at Discovery Learning Center hold a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) certification or equivalent qualifications. Our instructors are committed to ongoing professional development and continuously work to improve their teaching practices and classroom instruction. We also value student feedback as an important part of the learning process. Through regular student surveys, teachers are encouraged to better understand students’ learning experiences and expectations.
